How to Accept a Grant as a Grantholder on Capdesk

If a company issues you a grant on Capdesk, you will immediately receive a notification about this through your email (shown below). To accept the grant you, as well as a witness of your choice, will need to electronically sign an option agreement through the platform. Here is how you can do this:

 

To begin, click on the 'Log in to Capdesk' button found in the email you received (if you have not received this email, please contact the company).

This will automatically direct you to your 'Tasks' tab on Capdesk, where you should be able to see the task 'Accept Grant'. The first step in accepting the grant will be for you to provide the details of the witness you wish to cosign the agreement with you (they will need to be with you - same physical location). Therefore, the state of the grant will be marked as 'Awaiting Witness Details' at this stage.

To add your witness' details, click on the action button at the far right of the task row. Then click on 'Provide Witness Details'.

You will now be asked to provide your witness' full name and email address. When you are done, click 'Finish' at the bottom right.

Now, your witness will be invited via email to log into the platform and sign the agreement. In the meantime, you will be shown the below message on your screen: this is a reminder that you and your witness need to be signed in on Capdesk and found in the same physical location before you are allowed to sign (this is to ensure that the signing is valid under UK law).

If it is not possible for both you and your witness to log in and sign at that moment, you can sign the agreement at a later time by navigating back to 'Tasks', where the grant state should have changed to 'Awaiting Signature'. Click on the action button (...), and select 'Review and Sign'.

Once you and your witness are both logged in and ready to sign, you will be directed to the option agreement page. However, you will not be able to read the full document until you hit the green 'Continue' button, shown below. For additional options, including the option to sign at a later time, click 'More Options' and select your preferred one from the drop-down menu.

After clicking 'Continue', read the first page of the agreement. These are the terms of your contract. When you are ready to sign, click 'Start' on the left of the screen.

Now you will be automatically directed to the last page of the agreement, where you will need to sign. Your name will be automatically filled in on the field where you need to sign. To sign, click on the yellow box with the red arrow on it.

This will make a pop-up window appear, where you will be given the choice between two virtual signatures. Click on the signature you prefer, and then click 'Adopt and Sign' on the bottom left.

Your electronic signature should now be visible in the 'Grantholder' field of the agreement.

When you are ready, hit the 'Finish' button at the top of your screen to finalise the process.

Please note that your grant is not officially issued yet. The next step in the process is for the grant issuer and his/her witness to sign the agreement too. Once this is done, the grant will be officially issued out to you, and you will receive an immediate confirmation of this via email.

Finally, if you wish to download the signed option agreement in the future, navigate to 'Options' in the left hand-side menu, and locate your name. Click on the action button next to your name, and select 'Transactions'. This should present you with a screen that says 'Issuance', referring to the grant(s) that have been issued to you. 

 

Click 'Issuance'. A side-bar menu will appear on the right. The signed agreement (along with other documents you may have stored) will appear under 'Documents' section.  Click on the document to download it on your personal device.
