When a company issues you a grant on Capdesk, you will receive an email notification to log in or sign up and accept the grant. To accept the grant, you as well as a witness of your choice, will need to electronically sign an agreement through the platform.
In this guide we will use option grants as an example, however, this is applied to all equity types supported on Capdesk.
There are three main ways to begin signing your grant documents:
n.b. You can find a step-by-step interactive product demo tour here. |
From the sign-up email
If you are not already signed up for Capdesk, click on the 'Sign up to use Capdesk' button found in the email (if you have not received this email, please contact the company)..
From the log-in email
If you already have an account, click on the 'Log in to Capdesk' button found in the email you received (if you have not received this email, please contact the company).
Once logged in, you will be directed to the tasks page. Click Review and Sign next to the grant issuance to begin signing.
From the dashboard page
If you already have an account, you can also begin signing on the dashboard page. Simply click 'Sign grant' on the banner at the top of the page.
You will then begin the signing process, outlined below.
If you are required to sign with a witness, you will then be prompted to add their email address. Please note, the witness will need to be ready to sign once you add their details - an email notification will be sent to the email address you will add to log in/create an account and sign the agreement. |
You can find the witness signature process here.
You can add a new witness by clicking on the Add new witness button or if you have done this before, choose a witness from the existing ones added previously.
Click on the button "Add New Witness" and provide your witness' full name and email address. When you are done, click 'Next' at the bottom right.
Now, your witness will be invited via email to log into the platform and sign the agreement. In the meantime, you will be shown the below message on your screen: this is a reminder that you and your witness need to be signed in on Capdesk
If it is not possible for both you and your witness to log in and sign at that moment, you can sign the agreement at a later time by navigating back to 'Tasks' which you can do so by clicking on "Exit" in the top left side. |
If you would like to change your witness, similarly, go to "Review and Sign" option again, then "Add New Witness". |
Once your witness has logged in and clicked on their Witness and Sign task you will be redirected to the agreement page to sign it.
Click 'Continue' to read the first page of the agreement. These are the terms of your contract. When you are ready to sign, click 'Start' on the left of the screen.
Now you will be automatically directed to the last page of the agreement, where you will need to sign. Your name will be automatically filled in on the field where you need to sign. To sign, click on the yellow box with the red arrow on it.
A pop-up screen will appear, presenting you with your virtual signature (example shown below) and in order to sign the document, simply click on Adopt and Sign.
Your electronic signature should now be visible in the 'Grantholder' field of the agreement.
When you are ready, hit the 'Finish' button at the top of your screen to finalise the process.
Please note that your grant is not officially issued yet. The next step in the process is for the grant issuer and their witness to sign the agreement too. |
You can review the status of your option grant on the "Tasks" page. By clicking on the blue link Grant Issuance a pop screen will give you details of the status which now is waiting for the company to sign the agreement.
Once this is done, the grant will be officially issued out to you, and you will receive an immediate confirmation of this via email.
Finally, if you wish to download the signed option agreement in the future, log in to your account, click on the arrow next to your company name on the left-hand side under Current Holdings, click on the grant, then scroll down to the Documents section on the pop-up side panel.
