In issuing share certificates, we allow for you to use your own share certificate template which requires Capdesk placeholders
You can electronically generate and issue (sign) share certificates. We offer a standard share certificate template, however, you can also use your own (if you wanted to add the company logo etc.):
Prepare template
In your share certificate template (it will need to be one-page), we require Capdesk placeholders (similar to a mail merge).
We currently do not support share certificate that includes:
- Coloured background
- Different style fonts (for placeholders)
- Capitalising placeholder text (i.e we can not capitalise the shareholder's name if the name has been recorded in lowercase on Capdesk)
- More than one page
We have a list of required and optional placeholders (explanation of each placeholder can be found here) that you can use and add to your template:
The placeholders are used to merge the relevant information for each certificate that is generated i.e name of the shareholder, the total amount of shares etc.
We recommend highlighting the placeholders so that Capdesk can easily identify that they are placeholders. When highlighting, please make sure to highlight only the text and not any spaces between the wording.
Upload template
To upload your share certificate template, click Shares (under Ownership) -> Certificates -> Template -> Upload.
Enter the name of the template and click 'Add Dynamic Document'.
Click on 'Choose File' and upload your template. (You can also click on 'View Available Placeholders to see all the placeholders we support or 'Witnessed Certificate' for a sample template).
Then, click 'Upload' and 'Save'.
View template
To view the template that you have saved to Capdesk, click 'Template' -> 'View'.
