Details on how to place an exercise order for your options or warrants, sign the exercise notice and how to transfer funds
If you hold grants with a company that is using Capdesk, they can invite you to exercise them.
You will be asked to state how much equity (options or warrants) you would like to exercise and sign all relevant documentation. The payment for the exercise will be handled externally.
n.b. You can find a step-by-step interactive product demo tour here. |
You will have received an email invitation similar to the one below for you to exercise your equity. (this is an example of an option grant exercise however the process is similar to all other equity types supported on Capdesk).
Click on the green button Exercise your options and log in/sign up to your account.
You can also access the exercise transaction from your dashboard page, by pressing exercise now on the banner.
Once you have read the exercise process overview, you will be prompted with the below screen to exercise your equity.
You will need to input how many options you would like to exercise in each grant (if you have multiple grants available to exercise). Once you've selected the amount, you can view the total exercise cost at the bottom of the page.
The blue banner will show a message from the company, which will normally provide payment instructions. The orange banner will indicate the expiry date of the grant if you have any options that you don't exercise.
Once you have configured your order, click the green Request Exercise button.
You will then be redirected to DocuSign to sign the relevant documentation i.e the Notice of Exercise.
You do not need to set up a personal DocuSign account to proceed to this step. Your name will be automatically filled in on the field where you need to sign. To sign, click on the yellow box with the arrow on it then select Finish at the top of the page.
Once signed, you will see the confirmation of your exercise order, and it will be submitted to your company to complete the process.
You will also receive a confirmation email to your registered email address containing the payment instruction if provided by the company. Please look to contact the company if payment instructions are not included.
Once payment is made, the company will need to approve the exercise which will convert your holdings into shares. You will also receive a confirmation email once this is done as the one below.
Congratulations! You are now a shareholder.
