Protect your Capdesk account by adding an additional security measure.
Users that have two-factor authentication (2FA) are required to enter a verification code upon log in to their Capdesk account. The following authentication methods are supported by Capdesk:
- Authenticator app: Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.
- SMS text message: a text message will be sent to your cellphone number.
Capdesk highly recommends that users set up 2FA using an authenticator app as your primary method.
Managing 2FA authentication:
- Enabling 2FA Using an Authenticator App
- Enabling 2FA Using SMS
- Enabling 2FA Using Both Authentication Methods
- Disabling or Changing 2FA
Enabling 2FA Using an Authenticator App
1. Navigate to your User Icon at the top right-hand corner of your Capdesk account > User preferences page.
2. Under Settings, click Enable 2FA via authenticator app.
3. Scan the QR code using the authenticator app of your choice. Enter the six-digit code provided by your app and click Verify code.
4. Capdesk will provide backup codes for use in the event that you lose access to your authentication device. Download and keep these codes in a secure place in order to preserve access to your account without going through the entire two-factor authentication reset process.
Enabling 2FA Using SMS
1. Navigate to your User Icon at the top right-hand corner of your Capdesk account > User preferences page.
2. Under Settings, click Enable 2FA via SMS.
3. Enter your phone number and click Verify phone number.
4. Enter the code sent to your phone and click Verify code.
If you do not receive the code, click 'Resend Code', if after a while the code has still not been sent then please contact support.
Enabling Both Authentication Methods
If both authentication methods are enabled for an account, Capdesk will default to requesting the code from the authenticator app first. Authentication methods can be switched by clicking Use SMS instead.
We highly recommend enabling both 2FA methods, as they can act as back up to one another. |
Disabling or Changing 2FA
1. Navigate to your User Icon at the top right-hand corner of your Capdesk account > User preferences page.
2. Under Settings, click Edit 2FA or Disable 2FA.
If you need to change or disable your two factor authentication and you do not have access to your phone number or have lost access to your 2FA backup codes, please submit a request. We will then run an identity verification security process and once completed, we will proceed to disable your 2FA methods.
