In September 2022, Carta acquired Capdesk. So if you're a customer on the Carta platform but you think that Capdesk might be a better fit for you, we can help you explore your options.
How do I start the migration process?
Read through this overview before you make a decision. Then, if you want to migrate from Carta to Capdesk, reach out to your Carta customer success manager and let them know. They will set up a call with members of the Capdesk sales and customer success teams to figure out whether your company is a good fit for the platform.
On the call, they will show you Capdesk, discuss any changes in price or features available to you and answer your questions.
Which platform is right for my company?
The Capdesk customer success team will take a look at the information you share and assess which solution is right for you.
Reasons why Capdesk might suit your business:
- Your company is domiciled in the UK or Europe
- You need to issue SARs, QESOs, BSPCEs or other local grants
- You require a platform that can support multiple currencies
- You file documents with HMRC or Companies House
Note: this is not a full list of reasons.
There are two possible outcomes:
- Carta remains the best fit
If Carta is still the most suitable platform for your company, we’ll advise you on this and work with Carta to resolve any pain points.
- Capdesk is the better option
If migrating to Capdesk will improve your equity management experience and what you can achieve for your business, we’ll recommend making the switch.
We’ll propose a new subscription plan and liaise with Carta on your behalf to organise a start date and contract terms – based on your current contract.
The Capdesk implementations team can get started right away.
How long will the migration take?
We provide a tailored service and the amount of time it takes to complete the changeover depends on the complexity, accuracy and quantity of data.
To make sure everything happens smoothly and efficiently, you’ll need to check that your data is up to date. Depending on how far you are into the Carta customer journey, there are different ways of preparing for the migration:
- You have not shared any data with Carta
During your time as a Carta customer, you have not shared any company data. Your data will go straight to the Capdesk team who will begin the implementation process right away. - You’ve shared data but nothing has been imported
Carta has received data from you but this hasn’t been imported into the account and the onboarding process is not complete. Capdesk will gather the data from Carta and use that to onboard your company – provided the data is still up to date. - Your onboarding is complete and you’re using Carta
Your cap table and company data are already on Carta’s platform. Your customer success manager will check with you whether the data is up to date so that they can export the information from Carta and share it with Capdesk to begin the onboarding process.
